Call for drawing, photo submissions to showcase NCs Hidden Treasures

Professional sketchers, amateur doodlers and shutterbugs from across the state have a chance show off their favorite natural places for the North Carolina’s Hidden Treasures contest. Land for Tomorrow is excited to announce the extension of its contest after Great Outdoor Provision Co. generously donated two $100 gift cards for contest winners. Photos and illustrations of North Carolina’s Hidden Treasures will now be accepted through May 1. See Land for Tomorrow’s Pinterest page for an examples of the photos and simple sketches that are eligible.

With this contest, Land for Tomorrow is asking North Carolinians to share their unique relationships with our state’s scenery. We all have our favorite parks, rivers, greenways and game lands. This is your chance to showcase the spots that you think of when someone asks you to show them a special North Carolina place.

Submissions must be original depictions of publicly accessible natural lands. Wildlife may be included, and images that include people enjoying these areas are encouraged.

Through May 1, entries may be submitted via Land for Tomorrow’s Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/L4TNC), Flickr account (http://www.flickr.com/photos/l4tnc) or by email (land4tomorrow@gmail.com).

All submissions can be viewed on Land for Tomorrow’s Pinterest page (http://pinterest.com/land4tomorrow/north-carolina-s-hidden-treasures).

Entries will be judged by a panel of representatives from Land for Tomorrow’s leading organizations, including:

  • The Trust for Public Land
  • The Nature Conservancy
  • Conservation Trust for North Carolina
  • NC Recreation and Park Association
  • Environment North Carolina
  • The Conservation Fund
  • North Carolina Wildlife Federation

Winners will be chosen in both the photography and illustration category. Each winner will receive a $100 gift card from the Great Outdoor Provision Co.
